Andrew McGregor

Andrew McGregor's research includes algorithms for processing massive data sets and data streams; computing with noisy or incomplete data; clustering; coding and information theory. His work appears in theoretical computer science, database, data mining, coding theory, and machine learning publications.

McGregor joined the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Spring 2009 as an assistantpProfessor. Prior to this he spent two years at the Information Theory and Applications Center at the University of California, San Diego and at Microsoft Research, Silicon Valley.

McGregor received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2010 and the ACM PODS Alberto O. Mendelzon Test-of-Time Award in 2020. He received the Lilly Teaching Fellowship in 2012 and the College of Information and Computer Sciences' Outstanding Teacher Award in 2016. He directs TRIPODS Institute for Theoretical Foundations of Data Science at UMass.
