Marc Liberatore's research currently focuses on improving network forensic tools and techniques. He is particularly interested in weaknesses of practical anonymity systems such as Tor, and he has contributed to the body of research in this area.

Liberatore joined the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2009. Previously, he worked as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Wesleyan University in 2007.
