About
Nikko is a new teaching faculty member at UMass Amherst, where he is about to earn his PhD. He received his MS from Chulalongkorn University and his BS from Assumption University in Thailand. As a teaching faculty, he hopes to bring joy and fun to his classes, creating an exciting and fulfilling experience for his students. Nikko’s goal is quite simple: to help students discover what they love, dive into new challenges, and enjoy the learning process along the way. He looks forward to making his classroom a space for laughter, creativity, and those moments that make learning truly rewarding.
Currently, he primarily teaches systems courses. He found systems courses incredibly fun as a student and hopes to share that excitement with his students, too. To build a system, sometimes you have to be playful, think outside the box, and add a touch of crazy ideas… **POW** you might just create something amazing!
Outside of class, Nikko is passionate about sustainability and climate change. His research focuses on the energy domain with an emphasis on humans, ensuring technology really benefits people. His work has been recognized with the Best Paper Award at IGSCC in 2020 and Best Paper Runner-Up at BuildSys in 2021. Nikko’s contributions are starting to make an impact in both research and teaching. He was honored with a nomination for a Distinguished Teaching Award at UMass in 2023.
In his free time, he enjoys mobile gaming, playing the cello, spending time with his family, and exploring interesting online courses to learn new things and see how others teach! Learning is a lifelong journey!
Feel free to reach out to Nikko if you would like to chat! He would be happy to (if he is not busy).
