About

Santiago holds a PhD in Latinx and Latin American Studies from UMass and has been a life-long teacher and educator. His research is focused on Chicano poetry; he has published articles on poet/activist Raúl Salinas. Prior to coming to CICS, he worked for Hartford Youth Scholars, an education non-profit focused on getting students to and through college. In his free time Santi is an avid biker and enjoys exploring local trails. He also loves talking about politics, literature, and philosophy. Stop by the office to chat anytime!
