Graduate Overrides
For non-computer science graduate students.
The Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences allows graduate students who are not in the computer science program and meet the eligibility requirements to be considered for enrollment, subject to available seats.
Specific Information for Graduate Students
- Non-CS graduate students requesting overrides will be enrolled if seats become available.
- Enrollment may not occur until the first week of the semester.
- 500-level COMPSCI courses generally have two sections; Lecture 01 for undergraduate students and Lecture 02 for graduate students.
- UWW sections may be requested by non-CS graduate students or non-degree graduate students. An enrollment appointment through the UWW office is required to be enrolled.
Override Request
Students who are not eligible to enroll themselves in COMPSCI courses in SPIRE need to file an override request through the online form. You will receive a confirmation email for each request (unless you submit duplicate requests for the same course).
Override Form - Spring 2025
The Spring override form will open Friday, November 22, 2024.
Frequently Asked Questions
I can't register on SPIRE because the course is full, but I am a CS graduate student. Do I request an override?
Eligible students do not request overrides. Students either enroll directly into the course or are added to the SPIRE waitlist.
I want to register for a UWW graduate course but it says I need an enrollment appointment?
CS students may request an enrollment appointment.
I can't register on SPIRE because I am not a CS graduate student and the course is restricted to only this group of students. Do I request an override?
Students cannot self-enroll in SPIRE if the student does not meet eligibility. Students need to request an override and indicate interest. Priority will be given to students who are enrolled in the Data Science or Cybersecurity Certificate programs.
I'm an ECE graduate student and want to enroll in a UWW section.
ECE students are restricted from online graduate courses by the ECE department. Questions about the ECE policy should be referred to the ECE department.
