Matt Rattigan is focused on applying data science and machine learning techniques toward applications that benefit the public interest. He seeks to identify partnerships between academia and organizations in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors that are interested in using data to advance social good initiatives.   

Rattigan is a member of the teaching faculty in the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS), and the technical director of Community Initiatives for the Center for Data Science. Before joining CDS, Rattigan cofounded Edgeflip, a data-intensive social media start-up focused on serving social good organizations. In 2012, he was a part of the transformational analytics team at Obama for America, where he led the campaign's targeted social media efforts.
