Adobe has been a strategic partner of the college since 2020, providing generous support to our faculty, students, and programs, and more than 20 students have held Adobe summer internships. During this event, catering to PhD students and interested faculty, Adobe will share three 15-minute talks + hold a 15 minute Q+A.

Title: Introduction to Adobe Research and EPIC


Abstract: Adobe Research is a team of world-class research scientists, engineers, artists, and designers uniting cutting-edge academic discovery with industry impact. We shape experimental ideas into innovative technologies for Adobe's products, building the company's reputation as a pioneer in content and data intelligence. Our team collaborates with colleagues at universities around the world, presenting publications at international conferences.


In this talk, we will give a brief overview on Adobe's journey in changing the world through digital experiences and Research's mission to imagine and invent the future. Specifically, we will introduce the work that has been done in our EPIC org (Experiences, Platform, Insights, and Content) within Research, including various research initiatives, product and business impacts, and academic collaborations.

Vishy Swaminathan, Sr. Principal Scientist

- Vishy (Viswanathan) Swaminathan is a Sr. Principal Scientist and the head of the EPIC (Experiences Platforms, Insights, and Content) Research org in Adobe Research, working on bringing AI to Data, Document, and Content workflows to help enterprises and creators. He works at the intersection of insights from behavioral data, documents, and multimedia content. His research work in the area of next-gen video streaming, immersive experiences, and data-driven content and marketing technologies have substantially influenced various technologies in Adobe's video delivery (Streaming Media Readers' Choice Award of 2011), advertisement, and recommendations products. He has received several awards including for best papers, 2017 Distinguished alumnus from Utah State University ECE Department, and 3 ISO certificates of appreciation for contributions to MPEG Standards including editing the EMMY winning MPEG DASH Standard. Vishy has authored several papers, articles, RFCs, and book chapters, has about 100+ issued patents, and volunteers in organizing IEEE and ACM conferences. Prior to joining Adobe, Vishy was a Senior Researcher at Sun Labs, received his MS and Ph.D. in EE from Utah State University, his B.E degree in ECE from the College of Engineering, Guindy, India.
